Odyssey Health at-a-Glance
We bring practical, often overlooked insights to our work that make a big difference. Like the idea that one's moods and behaviours can play a powerful role in long-term disability and recovery. Or that progress is achieved not just in weekly sessions, but in everyday activities. All these insights and more inform our unique, highly effective approach, one that reduces both the human and financial costs of prolonged suffering, absenteeism and more.
Who we are
In honour of our heroic Clients, we took our name from the epic tale of a long journey home. We are psychologists, behavioural therapists, medical consultants and health care professionals whose passion is helping people get back the lives they want, especially those who’ve been struggling far too much, for far too long.
What we do
We use a custom-created, evidence-based treatment approach to reduce prolonged time off work, absenteeism, or modified work or hours because of mental health and chronic pain conditions. Based on the long-proven principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), we help Clients learn to acknowledge and accept their troubling thoughts and feelings, which helps them start being active much earlier than the norm, and start focusing not on their conditions, but on setting and moving towards personal goals, and a more meaningful life.
Who we help
While we work with people absent from work for any length of time, we’re noted for our success with people who have been off work for less than one year to several years. Caught in a classic vicious circle, their conditions and symptoms have often led them to withdraw from the world, they may have tried other interventions without success, and they’re likely avoiding being active, as they fear it will trigger even more discomfort. Supporting those people are compassionate employers and insurers who value their contributions, and want them back to work enough to seek us out – because they know we’ll go far beyond the norm to help their people become active participants in their own lives again.
Our Values
Compassion
We hold genuine care and concern for the needs of our clients, customers, colleagues, and ourselves. In every interaction we act with empathy and kindness.
Integrity
We build trust through responsible actions and honest relationships. We are committed to the highest ethical standard in the conduct of our business and quality of our service.
Respect
We respect the diversity, dignity and interdependence of all persons. We take explicit steps to encourage psychological safety, growth, and opportunity for seeing new possibilities.
Continuous Learning
We are committed to growth, as individuals and as a team. We reflect on our experiences, gather feedback, and embrace creative solutions and innovations that move us in the direction of our values and goals. We get the right things done right.
Accountability
We promote and act with openness and transparency. We honour our commitments to all those we serve, one another, and ourselves. We deliver consistent quality.
What else (besides our results) do people appreciate about Odyssey Health?
Goal-driven
We methodically monitor progress to know if we’re being effective.
Cost-effective
Our treatments reduce both the length of suffering, as well as the high costs of absenteeism and work disability and accommodation.
Specialized
We focus exclusively on people away from work due to significant physical, emotional and psychological difficulties.
Back-to-work-committed
We believe so strongly in the many proven benefits of work that, after treatment has successfully ended, our vocational assistance experts will help Clients not currently working or who’ve chosen to work elsewhere find employment.
Expertise
After decades of partnering with countless Canadian employers, we’ve turned return-to-work planning and implementation into a science, and can navigate the complex issues surrounding absenteeism and disability with compassion and efficiency.
Responsive
We aim for a first appointment within 5-10 business days of a call or referral.
